onramp year two 2002 |
2001-08-10 - 12:13 a.m. i have been kinda anti-computer as of late. two things have helped that. 1)the internet was brokenfrom our house for a day and joe has been up working on his new catalogue till 7 or8 am for hte past two days. this mean i get to sleep in the center of the bed but it also means i haven't touched a computer. anyway... i just got a few packages mailed off to distros yesterday and i was also informed that steve is done with his new journalsong issue and we are going to start compiling it all on saturday...Finally. i am really excited to jsut get it all done. so i finally met charisma. we have been pen pals for two years or so. it is always odd to be in those positions but i hould be used to it by now cause it happens constantly in portland. she went to beaterville with us and to the post box and to the diesel fule shop to meet james and across the burnside bridge to reading frenzy where we proceeded to run into tons of random zinestars and hold up in their air conditioning. charisma kept asking if it was going ot rain. it has been really hot lately. well, hot for portland. charisma also kept saying "wow, you are real people.' it was funny cause she had met joe before but not me and people always seem to find the dynamic of joe and i odd. we are rather different without eachother somtimes. it is hard to explain. it has to do with us finishing eachother's sentences and thoughts. that sort of thing. anyway charisma was really nice. se did seem uncomfortable and shy but it is so werid meeting people when you know more about them than what they have told you (zines and online diaries are to blame)sometimes i wonder about meeting zine people and havign conversations that i have already written about and everyone already knows but they smile politely like they don't.... so after we dropped her off at powell's joe and i went to the IPRC for an orientation. i can't decide if it is worth it to me to spend the money to join because i have my own work space and most of the things i need. i would like to learn letter press but i don't have any projects lined up to use it for. they do have non working memeograph (ditto) machines that i have always wanted to use to do a zine but it is broken. we shall see. maybe i will join. it is kind of the cool kids place to hang out. after that joe and i scammed kinko's for about 4,0000 copies. i made some more of 12,13, 15, and last words. now i have to cut and fold and staple for years. ok i am going to try to sleep in this crazy heat. -alex
