Sunday, Dec. 09, 2001 - 7:37 p.m.

you know, my whole house had built up the early 90's party so much. we all got in costume and somehow cassandra and pez and i ended up in the upstairs bathroom doing our hair and makeup... well actully they did my makeup as well as theirs. i don't know how to put on make-up but it was fun. i was all gothed out and looked like my friends cool older sister when i was in jr. high. cassandra was all grunged out with ripped up pants and a flannel and the pants had band names all over them. eric wore a faith no more shirt and thermals under shorts. joel went as a protoraver with an adidas shirts and glow stick. the whole house was out in style but the hosts ahd a different idea. i had heard c+c music factory twice when i realized they weren't going to play any of the early 80's i craved. no nirvana pseudo mosh pit. no desintigration era cure. i was sad. then i talked to someone who lived there and he said that the yguy spinning records was really into late 80's early 90's r&b. i was frightening i had heard enough of bel biv devoe, hammer, vanilla ice, and color me bad. it was very disappointing. i danced with cassandra for awhile and even joel as i sipped on some pabst. i really don't know how to dance to that sort of music.

it was really all just a bad flash back to junior high dances and reminded me very much of the kids and the music i hated. it was the point when it became clear in my life that it was "us against them". and the portland hipsters present was some kind of sureal hint through the strobe light that i wasn't 13 any more. they were too hip to dress up for the party and perfered their pea coats, shiney shoes, and drinking wine in the corner.

i guess the best part about it was liam and brett and their fake rap group called "three point crew" it was amusign to see them all dressed up silly and going off with DJ guinsu.

we all trickeld home pretty much at the same time and sat around the living room talking about the downfalls of hte evening while i put on sme nine inch nails pretty hate machine for us to feel more connected.(even if it did come out in 89.

joe and i finally rolled out of bed around 12;30 when we had people comingover to our house for the pdx zine symposium planning meeting at 3. it went pretty well wit habout 10 people here to start with. they ideas were flowing and it was good to see everyone. we decided that it will be in july we just aren't sure of a date yet. there was lots of yummy food and good conversation. i think we have a good group this year. -alex
