brainscan 20.5 crickets as a metaphor
they say that if you really have to explain a metaphor then it loses its impact. but people keep asking me what "crickets as a metaphor" means sooo...
to me it is about those awkward (and even not so awkward) silences. the times where no one knows what to say out loud but your mind is screaming and your eyes are darting trying to figure out what to do next. this zine is about social awkwarness, dual realities, honesty, travel, silence and is executed through my constant nervous fidgiting put to use in a way too labor intensive packaging.
two photocopied mini zines, a photocopied and screen printed half legal intro, and a self addressed envelope are tucked into a small folder with gocco printed covers. most of the materials are recycled or reused with a limited print run of 250. (40 are already gone after the portland zine symposium.) i started working on this at the end of the winter and it sat around for awhile but was done for the symposium without the third part i would have put in.
